Bajrangi
Bhaijaan is a story that
portrays the sensitive topic of India and Pakistan relationship. It stars
Salman Khan as Pawan aka Bajrangi, a devout Hindu follower of god Bajrangi and
Hershali Malhotra as Muni aka Shahida, a mute Pakistani girl se
parated from her
parents, Kareena Kapoor as Rasika the fiancé of Salman khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui a small town Pakistani
journalist have prominent roles. Once again, this proved to be a well-directed
movie by Kabir Khan who already has other productions like New York to his
name. Om Puri also packs in a powerful performance in his cameo appearance as a
Pakistani maulvi (religious teacher).
MUSIC &
EDITING
Three songs
out of the few in the movie are very emotional and heart rending. The back
ground music also contributes to teary eyed moments in the movie. The editing from
Rameshwar S. Bhagat is well executed,
which includes some Salman Khan signature action scenes that may prove
entertaining for his die-hard fan following.
HUMOR AND EMOTIONS
This film
is definitely worth a watch, buy some popcorn and coke to go along and enjoy
the show. It also has its humorous parts, like when Salman Khan gets angry at an
official in the Pakistan embassy and shouts, “That I will throw you, Pakistani
out of India. “ The official in turn replies
“What are you talking about? I am a Jaini (follower of Jainism and therefore
Indian citizen) just working for the embassy.” This makes audience explode with
laughter.
ACTING & DIRECTION
Salman Khan
again is at his best during action and melodramatic scenes, but for a change
gives a decent performance during some of the humorous scenes. Kareena Kapoor, only
has 2-3 leading scenes which she does well but her role almost finishes as the
Pakistan journey begins. Nawazuddin Siddiqui delivers another gem of a
performance. He naturally essays funny as well as emotional moments and is the
highlight of the acting department. Om Puri is powerful and displays his
characteristic élan. Sill it is Hershilla Malhotra as young Shahida, who with her
cute looks will be remembered most. The other child actor that plays cousin to
Rasika’s character (Kareena Kapoor) is simply brilliant.
Kabir Khan
needs to be credited for delivering such a successful film that connects with
masses. He also succeeds in making Salman Khan act as per the needs of film. The
character artists too have been chosen well and contribute to making film
appear as a continuous story.
FINAL VERDICT
As I said before, this is worth a watch.I will give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It is a nice movie for a family to watch together and that too on a big screen so as to enjoy good quality of production.
